Herded in some of the boats, without suitable food items and h2o, denied of medical facilities, quite a few of them fell sick and a couple personnel even died,” the letter, dated May seven, mentioned.

NPSSFW has requested the MHA to challenge a clarification that all migrant fish personnel would be facilitated by the authorities to return to their households.

“The MHA’s previous clarification on the style of migrants whose motion will not be facilitated by the governing administration has given the administration an escape route to shrug off its accountability toward fishers. Thousands of fishers are stranded in fishing vessels and fish landing websites in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa, and need to return to their villages, he explained.
