Farmer-Scientists interface on GI tagged rice at KAU on Oct 12

The Central Instruction Institute, Mannuthy beneath the Directorate of Extension, Kerala Agricultural University in collaboration with Agricultural and Processed Foodstuff Solutions Export Enhancement Authority is organising a virtual Farmer-Experts interface on GI tagged rice types on Tuesday.

The aim of conference is to reinforce export-oriented production of GI-tagged rice types in Kerala by involving farmers, business people and other stakeholders. Lawful and legislative assist for cultivating conventional rice types, troubles and potential customers of cultivation of GI-tagged rice types, experiences of farmers, Good Agricultural Procedures (Gap), proposed doses of plant safety inputs appropriate for export, significance of adopting Maximum Residue Restrictions (MRLs), potential customers of export of GI rice will be reviewed in the interface.

As quite a few as twenty Palakkadan Matta rice cultivating farmers are anticipated to participate in offline mode at the seminar corridor.

Simi Unnikrishnan, Assistant Standard Manager, APEDA, New Delhi will participate in the programme and focus on the issues connected to the export of GI rice types.

Jayasree Krishnankutty, Director of Extension, Kerala Agricultural University said that the aim of the Farmer-Experts interface would be doubling the money of rice farmers by means of export of GI rice cultivated in Kerala.
