Dakshina Kannada Milk Union’s production touches all-time high

The Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd procured 5 lakh litres of milk on June 9, a record for the dairy union, in accordance to Raviraj Hegde, its president

Thanking the users and staff members of the Union for this achievement, he stated the lockdown has led to a drop of close to 25 per cent in the use of milk in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Most of the motels, canteens and educational institutions are not working thanks to lockdown and tourist arrivals are down. All these factors have contributed to the drop in the milk use in these two districts and impacting the finances of the union.

Just after meeting the requires of these two districts, the Milk Producers’ Union, with 720 dairy cooperative societies and one.39 lakh users, is sending the remaining stock for the preparing of milk powder and other products.
