Collaboration between health leaders and their nearby communities is vital in addressing health disparities among the minority groups, according to Dr. Garth Graham, the vice president of community health at CVS Health and fitness.
“Partnerships are significantly critical,” he explained through AHIP’s Institute and Expo. “If we function together as a country, we can realize success.”
Despite the fact that African People in america make up 13% of the U.S. population, they account for about 24% of the COVID-19 deaths, Graham explained.
Problems of health disparities are not new. For decades, he explained, there have been illustrations of life expectancy gaps between groups in near proximity to one particular a different.
Graham pointed to one particular space in Miami, Florida that has a 15-12 months life expectancy gap between neighborhoods five miles apart.
“What is driving individuals differences in life expectancies are items like housing, education, socioeconomic position all round,”
